CpE Handbook: Technical and Technical Depth Requirement

CpE Handbook: Technical and Technical Depth Requirement

In order to provide breadth and depth in Computer Engineering Application areas, 15 credit hours must satisfy the categories shown below. Courses that satisfy CpE technical and technical depth requirements are grouped into the following categories. A course is counted as a technical depth requirement only if another course has been completed in the same area. Students will take two courses in one area, two courses in another area and then one course from any area.

Architecture AreaA

    ECE 429 Organization of Computers
    ECE 468 Embedded Computing

Communications and Networks Area

    ECE 427 Communication SystemsP
    ECE 438 Computer Communication
    ECE 449 Computer Network Security

ElectronicsC Area

ECE 321 Electronics II and 312 L EE Lab IVW (W.1)
ECE 459 Introduction to Circuit Design

Robotics Area

ECE 409 Continuous & Discrete Systems
ECE 456 Design & Appl. of Industrial RobotsD
    ECE 468 Embedded Computing

Signal Processing Area

ECE 467 Intro. to Digital Signal Processing
    ECE 427 Communications SystemsP

Software Area

ECE 417 Elements of Software EngineeringW (W.1), E
    ECE 442 Knowledge Engineering
    ECE 449 Computer Network Security

AECE 493 "Intro to Parallel Systems" also satisfies the Architecture area requirement.
PCourse satisfies probability and statistics requirement (one course is required).
CECE 460 "Summer Study Abroad Program" course also satisfies the Electronic area requirement.
WCourse satisfies W.1 University writing requirement (three credits are required).
DECE 493 "Intro to Robotics" also satisfies the Robotics area requirement.
EECE 493 "Compilers: Code G&O and ECE 493 "Intro to Parallel Systems" also satisfies the Software area requirement.

Note: One course may be substituted by ECE 405 or ECE H 491.
